Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I enjoy reading biographies of significant historical figures. I’ve got several on my bookshelf, mainly ones with some military connection. Some of the subjects were heroes, some were monsters and some were simply men of their times, but they were all interesting.

Anyone else enjoy reading biographies and if so who of?

The ones on my bookshelf at the moment are:

    Alexander the Great
    Julius Caesar
    Attila the Hun
    Genghis Khan
    Kublai Khan
    Sir John Hawkwood
    Ivan The Terrible
    Peter The Great
    Catherine The Great
    Simon Bolivar
    Marshal Georgi Zhukov
    Che Guevara
    Fidel Castro
  2. Chairman Mao. Heavy going but very interesting
  3. The last few years I have mainly read military biographies or books about wars and battles. Sometimes I do read music biographies. The last music one I read was by the Ramones tour manager.
