Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

Currently there is a move to have a house built on one of the few remaining plots of land from which it is posible to view Ypres fom Hill 60. A petition has been set up to try and stop this - not as a blanket all development is bad - but to have any future development done sympathetically with the historical context.

  2. Bugger - still 230 signatories from the WW1 site and here doesn't bode well, does it!!

  3. If someone builds a house on the polot of land oppoiste the Tunnelling memorial, its not possible to see why Hill 60 matters.

I'll raise the matter with the Battlefields Trust. I don't think the right way to tackle this is with a British petition. Its a Belgian matter and we need allies there.
