Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. can anyone tell me where the rose issued with this is supposed to go??

    and what it signifys??
  2. The rose denotes a clasp if only the ribbon is worn.
  3. ah right, cheers

    does everyone get the clasp??

i was led to believe that you only got it if you were in fobs etc??
  4. That's just a myth I think.

What about the guys who operate out of Bastion? edit-meaning the ones who live in Bastion but arn't exactly remfing it.

Certain personnel qualified for the OSM Afghanistan by supporting the initial operations there from out of theatre locations. Their medal did not have the clasp 'AFGHANISTAN' though. Ergo, they would not be able to wear the rosette on the ribbon bar.

A combat Infantryman in a Patrol Base gets the same medal as a clerk in the air conditioned comfort of Bastion, Lash or Kandahar. It's just a campaign medal, not a combat clasp.
