help with an acronym please from 1940

  4. There was also a SIGINT organisation called Defence Signals Directorate. Seen a reference to it in Australian and Canadian context.

    So, perhaps Deputy Director Special vehicles Directorate, interesting that his MC only shows up in 1942 - must have been a WW1 award. Would that be the sort of post that Home Guard L/Cpl (Acting Brigadier General) Percy Hobart was in 'officiallly'?.
