Help needed! Searching for night nav aid

I'm looking for a bit of kit that I've seen someone use but he didn't know the name of.
It's a round piece of glass that looks similar to a small magnifying glass. It allows you to read a map in the dark via increasing the ambient light.

Betalight finger torches like above are pretty good but are (or always were) pricey. Depending on how big an area you want to see any tritium gadget would do, even something like a tritium zip puller.

I have green and white illuminated pens than shine a small amount of light out from the ball point end that are good for reading in the dark
