Philip Trousdell, ex CO of R IRISH, is cycling across France to raise money for Help for Heroes.

I am riding across France with the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in May; 342 miles over 6 days which averages out at 57 miles a day. I have thus destroyed a guiding principle of my life; never volunteer for anything. But this is worth breaking a principle for. The money we raise will build a new swimming pool and gym at Headley Court the Service's remedial centre where badly wounded servicemen are given intensive physiotherapy and hope for the future. My regiment, The Royal Irish Regiment, has much to thank Headley Court for. Not only as a result of years of conflict in Northern Ireland but more recently because of more international conflicts. They lost 3 killed in Afghanistan in 2006 and had many wounded some of whom had body and soul reunited at Headley Court. The Regiment returns to Afghanistan in March this year. So WE are going to make a difference. I am off to pedal across northern France and your part in the great scheme is to please, please dip into your wallets and subscribe through this site to support Help For Heroes. But don't stop there. Use the power of the internet to cascade this message across the world. Give it pride of place on your Face Book site in order to spread the word. Donating through this site ensures that Gift Aid returns 28p for every £ you donate (well, until April when No 11 has decided to reduce it to 26p - cheers Gordon!) FAUGH-A-BALLAGH Many Thanks. Philip
Please give generously. All proceeds go towards Headley Court.
