This forthcoming Thursday (14th August) the landlord of The Phoenix in Duncan Road, Southea (Behind the Kings Theatre) is having a Help For Heroes night with BBQ and soldiers in uniform serving behind the bar.

    So. who's going along then?

I went along tonight to The Phoenix, the evening had a damned good BBQ for a quid as well as a raffle and quiz with all proceeds to Help For Heroes. The pub has chucked in a contribution and a local brewery, Irving & Co, donated a barrel of bitter to add to the proceeds.

The night was inspired by Andy, who is serving in the RA at the moment, and early estimates are that the evening raised between £500 & £700 for Help For Heroes.

Not me, mate, I just turned up and drank the beer. The thanks should go to the staff and customers of The Phoenix.

  5. I was gonna go but managed to convince myself that it was this Thursday (Doh!!!).

Any more planned for the future?

No idea, give them a bell.

I may make it in there next week so I will ask.
