Help, confused about Phase 2

Ok so I am going Phase One at the start of next year and I believe you choose your job there after the Phase 2 visit, but I am confused as to the role I want to go for. I want to go for Artillery Observer and I was looking at the RA section of the Army website and the three P2 courses are strike Integrated Branch, Find-Protect Branch and ACS branch. Which one does Arty Observer come under and does attending it mean I am under any job in that category or just the one I wanted? Also am I guaranteed the role or does it depend on what my chosen regiment wants?

You're not guaranteed the one you want. They take into account your preference, but if 5 lads come out of atc wanting to be light gunners and they want 2 light gunners and 3 GMLRS, guess what's happening

Not entirely true.

A lot of it depends on your regiment choice, and which regiments are undermanned, more so than your job choice. The truth is, you can't really choose what job you want to do in the Artillery, it's all about which regiment you get posted to, and you will work with whatever equipment they use.

So if you want to be a light gunner, volunteer for either 29 cdo or 7 para, because you will get that posting (providing you go on and pass p coy or the aacc).

The job that you want to do is a very specialist job, and usually people work on the guns for a while before moving on to those types of roles. Your best bet is to try to get into an FST straight away, but it all depends on your aptitude, and which bty within the regiment needs bodies.

Just some advice, don't worry so much about your job choice at phase 1 training. Get through the training, then everything becomes more clear at phase 2.

Strike integrate...... That's where guns/fst training takes place
