Help and Information please


I'm posting this on the sapper forum because over much deliberation between the Royal Marines and the Royal Engineers i've decided that I will better myself more by joining the Royal Engineers. Now i've looked through all the information and it seems being 21 is a good age to sign up (again), this time I quit smoking on the 1st january 2009 , don't drink at the moment so as not to hinder my training, but all I can find is the minimum requirements to pass the PFT is 44 press ups, 60 sit ups, 1.5 mile run under 10minutes and 30 seconds. The thing is I've heard that it is scored on a points system therefore I DON'T just want to reach the required minimum to pass it, in fact I want to have smashed that before I get into phase 1. Therefore could you give me a rough guess as to what I should achieve before basic training in order to make sure I don't become a BIFF and stand out for he wrong reasons when I get to unit. :?:
