Hearts and Minds (and spin)

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. From Aljazeera

I asked my escort Specialist Jack Craig, a military policeman from Minnesota, how he correlated the "strike first" directive with the US military's current policy of attempting to win the "hearts and minds" of the local population.

"Actually, I see 'hearts and minds' as a tactical doctrine. To me, it means that's where we should aim first," said Craig. " Shoot them in the body or in the head, but just make sure you shoot them first."

Blatently one sided report but it's interesting to see the other half of the picture that R Murdoch doesn't want you to see. (Just as politically motivated  )
  2. I think that is far more balanced than most of the crap being peddled by the major US networks. If the US Army were to take note and implement some changes in Tactics/attitudes now, then they would make their own lives much easier.
  3. Note the story by the side of the article - "Blair gets treatment for stomach pains".... does anyone recall the BBC, Sky, ITN etc mentioning this?
  4. Alas, Bliar's illness turned out to be not serious.
  5. Having read the "Special Report" about the Iraqi Occupation, I slightly take back what I just said. It is more balanced than Fox News but that isn't hard. It is the same old claptrap actually.
