Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi do you think if somebody in battalion had their hearing downgraded to a H2 (from a H1 normally) in just one ear or even both would they be kicked out of the army for it? I always worry about it when I have the audiograms just incase my hearing has been damaged from live firing days.

  2. When it starts to go to around H4, it then becomes an MD situation after assessment. They could just move the individual to a post with limited high frequency noise e.g. Away from aircraft or big guns (arty) etc.
I was H4 bordering H5 on return from Herrick 4, had several tests over 12 months until it showed signs of slight improvement...and bluffing the machine!
