HCR death in Afghanistan, 15.10.08

  1. It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that a British soldier from D Squadron, the Household Cavalry Regiment was killed as a result of an explosion this afternoon, 15 October 2008, during a routine patrol approximately 23km north of Forward Operating Base Delhi in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

    Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel Woody Page, said:

    "We are deeply saddened by this loss and our thoughts are with his family and his Unit at this tragic time”.

    Next of kin have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released.

  4. I hate this, what an absolute shame for any service man or women to die in such a way, people this this will always be remembered as heros and it brings a tear to my eye knowing that they died for something they cared to much about, thermselfs and there country.
