So takinga break from the Tiger 1 build and looking at something completely different.
I though I'd have a go at a aircraft and a F-16 at that but not a Spam jet but a Dutch Viper.

Was given the kit about 12 years ago by a mate as a gift. It had been startedbut not much so I thought I might just finish it.
Anyway the work done was limited to the droptanks and the air intake. I'll throw in a few AM parts just for good measure.

Started with the office for the growbag and him as well. Aires resin cockpit and the kit figure but with a more modern helmet. some alterations to the pilot
made from GreenStuff epoxy putty. Oxygen hose from brass and copper wire.

HAD models wheel wells, these were fun as the one part that was assembled was the intake - I had to take it apart to get the nose gear bay in and had much fun in doing so, the plastic had became very brittle over the years.

Eduard wheels made for the tamiya kit but fit a treat with some modifacation to the kit hubs.

Working on the instrument panel and thought Id try this stuff for the MFD's :-

Base of the MFD is pure black and these worked a treat.

Gear bays , well the main gear bay - Out of practice I'm afraid, still a bit more to do to tie it all in
like an oil wash should help blend it a bit more.

The two tail lights have been drilled out and clear sprue added to better replicate the tail lights, these are used to illuminate the tail and Hasegawa got them wrong.
They will get polished up and masked before painting.

Resin bird slicer IFF antennas added, nose can be fitted next. These are very small so the template was handy. fixed intailly with PVA glue and then some thin CA to secure them properly.

Thrown the kitchen sink at this exhaust, more titavation and painting. more MRP metallics on the turkey feathers.
I think I'm close now ?
:frantic:

Added some PE Flare buckets as they were better than the kit moldings

Front end, things are shaping up a bit more, static probes and pitot by Cross Delta added.
Also some blister type antenna with the Cross Delta RAM panels - I might replace these with plastic card yet
as they are too proud?

More on the front end tonight.

Archer decals for the rivets, Nice resin rivets printed onto clear decal film.

51577508637_c259efb1e4_b.jpg

To be added to the rear of the cockpit, still more to add but these will get sealed in with some Kleer before priming as they are fragile. Just adds a bit more interest to the area
and its on the real deal.

Next is the intake, not as good as i wanted it to be as the plastic is Uber brittle, it just shattered when I fitted the front gear bay but its close enough.
masking was a bit tricky but I gth there in the end - Just took time. More tricky masking for the top coat but should be worth it. MRP paints BTW, the Dutch vipers
look like the lip is exposed metal of a grey colour so I went with duraluminium
;)

That Exhaust/Afterburner paint job, superb it really looks like heated metal!:worship:

Cheers Fella, I'm quite happy with how its turned out now - The Power of MRP !

So tonight, not much movement as the bits done were more time consuming than I thought.
Behind the cockpit is a small vent, it had a grill so i tried to make this from plastic card and failed badly.
In the end I used one of the empty photo etch flare buckets cut down and shaped up to make the grill.

51581166707_836f5ede46_b.jpg

Next up were the fuselage protector plates for the arrester hook, I also added what i think is the fuel dump tube?

And the intake vane got painted and fitted. Thats about it really - Not much to show tonight plus the CnC home front is back home from a 10 day work trip tomorrow
my time on build duty will be reduced.

onight we tackle the ECM pod from Brassin. The Klu Vipers seem to carry these quite alot, some all grey and some green.

We are going for a green one as the jet is grey so I used MRP RAF Green, looked to be a good match.
First up after priming is painting the radome band a metallic colour. So again out came the MRP white aluminium over tamiya gloss black laquer. It was then masked up and the green applied.

Then more masking

51589432909_8a80f68cb5_b.jpg

And the radome covers were painted in MRP tyre black - masking removed

Decals and then a varnish followed by a wash to make the details pop.

Enjoy

Have you got decals for J-225? That one nearly wrote-off three Gazelles, two FFR Land Rovers and a Bedford MK bowser after sucking-up a duck over SLTA in '83.

I do
:frantic:
The decal set covers all the Klu F-16's and all the Squadrons. I shall check to see if it's one of 313 Sqns as this is the Sqn that i was going to model. They were providing recce during my Op Resolute tour back in 95.
