An annual event that causes slight depression when I realize I am a few months older than the Air Force

don't worry about it HMAF are still using equipment older than your air force

Well the USAF still flies planes that are older than the pilots

I was not aware that the USAF was also flying the Osprey. I knew the Marines were big on it but not the USAF. Anyway, the USAF is encroaching on the Army's turf a little here as when the Air Force was formed as a stand alone service in 1947 from the USAAF, the generals said they would leave the helicopter force with the Army and just take the fixed wing stuff. The V-22 Osprey looks suspiciously like a whirly-bird in take off and landing mode, if you ask me...

Here's a Marine MV-22B landing on the Carl Vinson for testing.

THe USAF always been part of the Osprey program from the humble beginnings when it was called JVX ..

USAF have them decade and half , if you watch the First Transformers Movie, the opening scene is with pair of AFSOC CV-22B from Kirtland AFB transporting the Rangers in the „Qatar“

cheers

It must have been a bit humiliating for the USAAF being part of the US Army and wearing brown while the RAF and Luftwaffe had been their own seperate services wearing blue since 1918 and 1936.

I don't think the USAAF minded a bit wearing pinks and greens as an element of the US Army. Sure didn't hurt their performance. :thumright:
