Guardsman 5.56mm

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Those who've been around a while will no doubt remember a user called '5.56mm' who made a name for himself on Arrse a few years ago, when as a 14 year-old cadet, he started threads about such gems as 'What's the best way to clean a mess tin?' and hung out way past his bed-time being ripped apart for his child-like zeal for all things green. http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/5.56mm

If you remember him, you may be interested to hear that he's just completed a tour of Afghanistan with the Grenadier Guards, was part of the Escort to the Colour today and as we speak is stagging on outside Buckingham Palace with a hang-over to kill ten civvies. In fact, it was his Platoon Commander who featured in the recent Grenadier documentary diffy the legs.

He doesn't post anymore but still drops in so will appreciate your congratulations / abuse. How time flies, eh?

  2. Fooking hell!
    Fair play to him.
I think those of us who guided him during his younger years and also gave him torrents of abuse should also give ourselves a pat on the back. ARRSE obviously made him the man he is today :D

Seriously though. Congratulations on getting where you are now.

  3. Fcuking hell, well done 5.56mm, lessons on whats the best boot polish obviously helped :)

  4. Fook me !

Yep, remember him well, he of many a bone question :)

But fcuking well done mate, something to be very proud of.

  5. I wonder how he cleans his mess tins...?

  6. And not only has he emulated many of the deeds of those who derided him but he has probably surpassed many as well. Well done that man.

  7. The saying goes - "Years to make a reputation, 5 minutes to break it."

Silly arrse has done it the wrong way round!

  8. I thought I hadn't seen any bone posts from him in a while, now I know why. What a turn up for the books! Well done and may he continue.

Wedge, is he in contact with you because you've been grooming him??

  9. I'll add my congrats, he's proved all the nay sayers wrong, good on him.

Good lad - if he can take the banter on here and then get thru basic then he is doing well. There are many 'grown up' types who go off bubbling to Matron after being told to feck off.

Maybe in 20 years it will be him drawing his sword on the KBP. :D

  11. Fuck me, he's joined the army. He hasn't just qualified as an astronaut!

    Anyway, well done that man.

  12. Does this mean in a few years time Stab23 will be teaching The Lord Flash how to fly? :?

  13. No. But it may mean one day you'll progress from the cadets to the pioneer corps.
