The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Is there a site i can go to where i can insert Grid Ref and shows me the location.
Surely it depends on the map that you are using? Is each map serial numbered, or uniquely identifiable?
Multi map used to accept GRs
Lat and long can be done on google I think. The Ordnance Survey site might be worth a look but as smudge says you'll need the map sheet reference I'd have thought.
Go here and enter the grid ref at the bottom
This is quite good too... OS maps with Google Earth Satellite pics too....
Failing that ring someone at DGC. They'll know.
cant you use a conversion programme
A grid reference should include 2 letters before 6 or 8 digits, as the number grid is repeated every 100km. For example to describe the location of Fowl Flag, Mull head, Papa Westray, Orkney Islands, you need HY502559. www.streetmap.co.uk has an option to search by "OS grid (x,y)" although it doesn't remind you to include the first 2 letters.
Thanks for your input, sorted.
Separate names with a comma.
