Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. For no particular reason...

...what is the nickname green slime all about?
Where did it come from? I assume it has something to do with green being the Corps (beret) colour, but is there more to it?

Just find all this stuff quite interesting as an outsider looking in. Its like trying to learn a foreign language lol
  2. 1979? I'm sure the name 'Green Slime' was around longer than that.
  3. just googled it and came up with this fantastic tinfoil site:

    Green Slime invades Iraq

  4. So apparently I am "Pond Life". Thats good. On my last CR I was described as an amoebic organism. This just proves it. Marvellous!
  5. I didn't know that Smeagol was in the AG Corps!

Golly, could that be the answer? It had never occurred to me. I'd assumed it was because of all those letters I used to write to CGS in green ink, suggesting how he could reform the army...
  7. Thats why nothing happened mate. He was colour blind. :D
  8. I'm sure he worked in HQ Int & Sy GP UK at Wilton in the early 80's

  9. Reminds me of Peanut-Head
  10. With a Corp tune of " A finger of Fudge is just enough" says it all.............. lol
  11. In my day (cough), it was always the "Gardening Corps." "Green Slime" seemed to come in with books written by "them" or am I just having a Bushmills moment?

  12. WTF?? How about you wind it in a bit ?!
