I am wondering whether anyone knows where I can purchase a greatcoat like the one in this picture, I have tried eBay and all the other online militaria shops but I am open for suggestions.

Kind Regards,

Ed

Try any Militaria fair or Portabello road on a Saturday.

Try looking on MILWEB on the net. They have a section of dealers that you might find stock greatcoats.

Go to MILWEB and click Dealers. Or look in the clothing section at the top of the page. Try Soldier of Fortune. They are also on the web.

Best of luck.

You have to look at each dealers web site. Telephone some of them. There is a show in Essex this w/e at Avely airfield, 50 or more dealers will be there.

Dude, your in school right?

Why do you want one of them Overcoats then?

Forgive me if I am wrong but upon clicking on your msn thingy on the bottom of your profile it says your 14 and go to school.

Or are you a sgt maj in cadets or something?

Sorry to confuse, I am 15 years old and 16 in September, I have (as correctly pointed out by "5.56mm") been promoted to CSM. I will hopefully be taking my AOSB in January of next year for a 6th Form Scholarship to Sandhurst.

Ed

As a CSM in the cadets, can I ask as to why you require such a garment? How often do you wear clothing which this would be appropriate for? I recall wearing combats almost all the time, and parades tended to be carried out in lightweights.

It seems like an unnecessary purchase, if I'm honest.

Regarding AOSB, you may find THIS THREAD ON AOSB USEFUL

Best of luck with it.

Thank you for your inputs, firstly, lightweights are no longer used in the my cadet battalion, I need the greatcoat for myself as I am laying a wreath at the Menin gate in October and I have been told that I will need one of these to complement my No.2 Dress.

Yes it is very young to be a CSM, my dad was an instructor in the cadets and from an early age I had shown an interest in the army so I was eager to learn so he took me out and he taught me things that I use in cadets, I was promoted to L/Cpl in cadets at the age of 13, exactly 1 year after joining, Cpl 11 months after that and I just kept moving up, I skipt Colour, as I was a sergeant at the time and became Cadet CSM. Also when my dad died the day I was promoted to a Cpl, it gave me a driving force to go on working solidly in school and at cadets to lead me into the British Army.
