Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. http://www.computerweekly.com/articles/article.asp?liArticleID=136730&liArticleTypeID=1&liCategoryID=6&liChannelID=22&liFlavourID=1&sSearch=&nPage=1

  2. Last I heard on these ID cards, is that it would cost each individual 80 quid each. The government are not going to give them out for free, and I, like many others are not going to give them 80 quid per ID card. So will the scheme take off, in my personal opinion, nope.

  3. Personally I don't want ID cards.

I also don't think they have much of a policing purpose without a power of arrest attached for the offence of not being in possession of it (as I believe there is in Hong Kong for instance)

No power of arrest = no way of investigating the persons real identity as they can't be fingerprinted = Pointless.
