Government wants medal back?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I think it is explained in the newspaper article? His original medal was issued in 1956 when he was a Sergeant. The issue of the Canal Zone clasp dated back to when he was a substantive Private. If had been issued at the time it would have been engraved with his rank of Private and a Cyprus Clasp would have been issued.

It is a question of rules and precedent I guess. That is another debate.

  2. Why on earth is tax payers money being wasted on even looking back to check. This is our money being wasted.

  3. Why not make sure that the current medal entitlements are being issued or am I missing the point here? Obviously not deliberately...
