Depends what sort of flu it is

Man Flu- get a grip, grow some its only a running nose ffs

Proper Flu : Typical clinical features of influenza include

* fever (usually 100° F to 103° F in adults and often even higher in children),
* respiratory symptoms such as
o cough,
o sore throat,
o runny or stuffy nose,
* headache,
* muscle aches, and
* fatigue, sometimes extreme.
nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can sometimes accompany influenza infection,

Follow Jarrods advice

Best of luck ether way

Don't embarass yourself. That time is poor.

A PTI once told me that you shouldn't run if you have a cold as there is extra strain on the heart.

Can't seem to shake this cold i've had for the last 10 years.

guarentee results !

has worked for me everytime i`ve needed it. as long as u are drinking fluids to replace lost ones ya fine. former marine who works at my gym even uses it and carnt stress enough how good it is as the extra temperature brings on a feverish state and the body starts sweatin out the nastys which is only a good thing

I gotta agree with Asherz, using a sauna or steam room makes you feel a hell of alot better, drink loads of water to replace lost fluids & stretch stiff muscles while in the sauna.

Also at night drink tea with honey & if you sleep in a really small or box room, leave your door open so air can circulate more

Listen to Jarrod, not old wives tales.

Also as well as Paracetamol you can take Ibuprophen at the same time as it works in a different way to Paracetamol. My drugdealer(Pharmacist) friend always recommends this.

Or listen to granny and slap on the goose fat, cover with a damp t-shirt and run on the spot in the sauna carrying a full bergan, avoid any fluid replacement as that is just pampering the germs.

Rubbish as I've already posted if someone gets a temperature, they need to bring it down, not increase it. Increasing the temperature will make someone feel worse and get dehydrated.
Inhaling olbas oil and such like may bring some relief.
Seconded Jarrod!!! Up there on a par with other similarly crap old wives' tales.
Hot drinks such as Ribena or honey and lemon are good for easing the throat etc too tho

(And you re not the only registered nurse :p )

Motion carried Jarrod and mwl946. (I too am a registered nurse).

Paracetamol, ibuprofen and plenty of fluids.

Turn up tomorrow, let them know you've been unwell then do your best. Don't keep dwelling on it though - just dig in and get on with it, then you can go home and die.

Good luck, all the best...

my body must just be fucked then bcoz everytime for the last 2 years that i have felt a cold coming on i have jumped in the sauna had a good sweat on and a day later i felt like i had no cold. and i dont think there is one person who has went 2 years without a cold lol.

Is it Man Flu or Flu-Flu.

I suspect Man-Flu as real Flu leaves you feeling so sh1t you wouldn't care about tomorrow.

I've had it once and spent three days contemplating p1ssing the bed just so I didn't have to move.

Don't understand much do yer? Cold/Flu....two DIFFERENT things!

A sauna would help clear the airways (That's about all),raise your temperature and make you dehydrate, even with replacement of lost fluid, where would you regain the salts & minerals you lost through sweating?

Flu - best treated by Rest,fluids,proprietary flu medication and TIME

Laddo doing his selection can dose himself up, get a good nights kip, drink and eat even if he doesn't feel like it, a decent bath in the morning to help with the aches and pains, a handful of glucose tablets before he goes and lets them know he's not well and does his best.

Nurses...pfffft RGN....RMN....help them THINK themselves better!

This is an excellent way to help the Sauna chap understand. Your body has tiny little Pac-men type things called Phagocytes that go around munching up nasy bugs and other such matter. They also have memory cells, for example when we give you an injection to protect you from a certain type of bug, you will get a response from your body. The Phagocytes will munch it up and the memory cells will remember. Next time if you come into contact with the real disease your immune system recognises it and kill it.
Every year we have different 'Flu jabs because each year there will be different types around. The boffins work out which we are likely to have in the UK and so you might get quite a few different types in your jab. The vaccines by the way are made in Egg and if you ever wondered where the White eggs go - it's to the drug companies as people seemingly in the UK don't want to eat them. You will often be asked if you are allergic to Chicken or Eggs when given a jab.
Think that might be TMI,just tell him that he will die if he doesn't do just as you say, because you are NURSE and know best.....mind you that could lead to ANYTHING knowing you..... :twisted:
