English Heritage, in partnership with the Wolfson Foundation, today announced a record £100,000 to repair the nation's war memorials including more than one thousand pounds for two memorials in the capital. The grants are being made under a scheme which is run jointly with War Memorials Trust, and help pay for large and small conservation and repair projects carried out by parish councils, local authorities, schools and other groups and organisations. ...... ...more

Good news for a change :)

  2. I'm sure it is good news. But this is a grant from English Heritage, not the governemt where it should have come from.

Plus there are 70,000 war memorials receiving £100,000. Take away £1,000 for 2 memorials in London. It doesn't leave a lot of money for the remainder - less than £2 per memorial!

Or am I just a cynic?
