Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I've been tasked with obtaining a globe for my nieces 8th birthday, how hard can that be I hear you ask.

She wants one that has the countries the proper size, all the one's I've seen have the normal flat projection wrapped around a ball.

Does anyone know of a globe that has an accurate map?
  2. No problem mate, just had it loitering in my attic for a few years.
  3. If it's on a globe it should be accurately depicted (If its a good quality globe), it's other projections (such as UTM ) that distort the image on to 2D maps.

Globes are useful teach tools for MATT 5, you can use them to demonstrate GMA, how it changes over time, and how it changes dependent on theatre of ops.
