Marry her, better accommodation, more perks!

You'll get to see her as often as you can afford to go back to the UK to see her on your leave, or she could pop over to see you.

Word of warning though, you are joining the Army, you'll meet a bunch of lads who you'll want to spend more and more time with, having a laugh with, drinking your weight in beer with and all that kind of stuff. You'll start spending less and less time with your girlfriend and she'll soon not understand what you're on about or your new type of sense of humour.

Or marry her and take her with you (last resort!)

That is not what I call good advise.

So owz - lets get this right.

1. Your not yet in.

2. Your still to do and pass basic training.

3. You already know your posting.

4. You wish to know how much time you are going to have off.

would do but she still got a year of uni left. she knows what she is getting her self in to as her brother in law is in the army. and if it wasnt for her i would still be some low life hanging round with a bunch of druggys. im now earning 21k a year as a sales executive in advertising and got my own place(but i need more out of life). so we know how much we mean a to each other. i understand about what your saying when it comes to friends and so does she but i will always put her first.
how much leave am i likely to get and whats the best way to get back from germany.

Soldiers in both World Wars would spend 2 or three years seperated from loved ones, both my grandfathers included. My father spent the first 18 months of married life in Japan and Korea without getting home. Soldiers today regularly spend 6 months on gruelling tours in a hostile environment. Seperation is common in the forces; always has been and always will be.

If, and I don't know how you can be sure if you haven't done basic yet, you are posted to Germany, you will get plenty of leave to go home and see her. There will also be long weekends where it is possible for you to nip across the water. And she can also come across to Germany and see you pretty much anytime she has a break.

If you are not yet considereing marriage then that option should be avoided ... too many folk in the armed forces get married for the wrong reason ie missing the gf or want a better lifestyle with a married quarter.

If you think a lot of her and she the same about you, then your love will survive seperation. I don't know if absence does make the heart grow fonder but it certainly makes the sex awesome :D

i understand what people have been tho in the last. and i know thats what i will have to live with i new that before i started the application. im going in as a dog handler to the new unit out there so they said i will def end up there. i know we can survive it im not worried about that. can you fly back or does it mean driving .

This is the second time you've posted this. If your interview went as badly as you think it did (see the thread entitled "did my interview go badly") then you're probably not going anywhere near Germany.
