Germany announces force reduction and base closure details - 26/Oct

  1. In case anyone is interested - Germany today announces the details of Bundeswehr reductions.

    Complete details of exact force reductions at other sites will be announced later today (rumours say an average 30% reduction at all remaining sites, meaning ~90,000 military and civilian contractors bringing numbers down from 330,000 to 240,000 -military plus civilian contractors- or from 250,000 to 170,000-185,000 military only).

    It has already been announced that the following 31 bases will close completely (numbers in brackets are number of jobs lost at those locations).

    In addition, the Navy HQ will be concentrated in Rostock (Baltic), the Airforce HQ in Berlin-Gatow and the Army in Strausberg (near Berlin). Combined HQ remains in Bonn.

  3. Do they still own the Ruhr...? All those immigrants in Germany now, I wonder would they need some Lebensraum.
