Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. This might be of interest. Made by R. Fuess, (Berlin & Steglitz)
An uncle took it off a captured German officer towards the end of the war but I never got any more details.

I was told at the time that there was an attachment that went on it for artillery (rangefinding) purposes but I'm not sure this was correct. The folding scale appears to be purely for use on a map although some of the other features on the outside of the case suggest that something else attached to it.

  2. You might want to look at the file size on those photos?

  3. Why? Are they going to slow ARRSE up? They're linked from ImageShack. Is there a bandwidth problem I'm missing here?
I could have put smaller ones up but then the detail wouldn't be so visible.

  4. nice prismatic compass you got there , / have you checked the ICE to see if it still acurate , i bet its bob on , you want to sell it ,

  5. I don't wish to sell it. I just thought it would be of interest to some of the collectors.
