German soldiers allowed to keep mullets

#1
German soldiers will be allowed to sport mullets and ponytails after a court ruled army hair regulations were unconstitutional.

The ruling came after an 18-year-old soldier was locked up in a cell and fined £100 when he refused to chop off his 10-inch ponytail.

The teenaged recruit only agreed to let army barbers cut his hair when faced with three weeks in solitary confinement, but made a formal complaint at the same time.

The military court in Munich ruled in favour of the soldier and argued the varying rules for male and female recruits were "unconstitutional" and "incomprehensible".

It said forcing male soldiers to cut their long hair went against their rights as individuals.

Ze feminization of Ze Fatherland iz kompletenhausen.

As a stab visiting BAOR I could never quite work out why spotty, prison-tattoed, gap-toothed teenaged British infantrymen could pull such utterly stunning porn dolly teutonic maidens.

Then I saw the local menfolk and the penny dropped.

Oh well, as long as they're arguing about haircuts and makeup and not shouting "Panzers Marsch!" and heading East then I'm quite happy.

V!

How long before some scrot tries it here? Is it just me but whenever I have seen squaddies with BLEACHED or DYED hair it seems to be accepted?

I recall someone telling me about a Guardsman in NI who had bleached blond hair and got a lawyer involved, human rights etc 8O

I would not be surprised if it happened here, and before anyone points out tradition or Queens regs the European parliment has more sway than tradition

Off to flog the natives now hurrmphh

And this, ladies and gentlefolk, is what happens when "human rights" legislation is taken to its logical conclusion.

Previously reductio ad absurdam was a philosophical and debating device. It appears that it is now policy

This begs the question of who you would have in your fantasy mullet section.

Sect Comd- Rudi Voller
2IC- The Hoff
#1- Chris Waddle

Those names for starters. All big in the Fatherland for services to the Reich.

Aren't the dutch allowed mullets and beards?? I seem to remember doing the Nijmeghen Marches and the dutch were sporting them under they're hats.

Dutch have allowed long hair for a good few years now under similar arguments as Germans. I suppose that's what you get for still having a conscript army. On the other hand the Germans have alternatives to military service for all the non hackers. I still can't get over the mentality though.....duh you are in the ARMY! What did you expect!

I also heard that the Dutch have a union as well, can you imagine the sh1t that would cause when going to war.

Colonel Fraanz "I would like you to please go out on a night patrol Untersgt Johan."
Unter Sgt Johan "I'm afraid i cannot do that sir, my boys are in a union meeting regarding the wearing of the long hair."
Colonel Fraanz "Ok i am ordering you and your men to the front line."
Unter Sgt Johan " Right then, all my men will be on a go shlow. And we will not shoot anyone incase of ze compensation claimsh."

Great Army to be in, i think i'll join it tomorrow.

I remember in the 70's the Army had a media campaign saying that the modern soldier can grow his hair longer. I think it was due to a recruiting shortage coz everyone wanted to look like they were in Slade!

Thought about more to say on subject of ze Germans. Used to teach EFL years ago, early nineties, in a school that saw mostly German students. Most of the guys were university graduates (5 years minimum in Germany, most finish school at 19). In their 2 years of military service to a man (and we are talking many hundreds of them) they had either spent it driving stuff around in trucks or administrating stuff in offices. Many had made sergeant in their second year (mainly coz they were graduates) but this was meaningless in the conscript world. Most of these guys were 26-28 and looking for their first jobs in the workplace. The only German i met who had really enjoyed his military service was from the old East Germany. He had been in their elite paracute regiment and had had a whale of a time jumping out of perfectly good aircraft.

I suppose what I'm saying is, in your Professional world long hair is a hindrance and to be avoided bad for discipline, personal admin etc etc. When you are effectively a truck driver or an office worker, does it really matter? I guess if the cak really hit the fan, the pony tails would be gone, as would the beards after the first fatalities from gas seeping through the respirator.
