Watching Boris at PMQs was a breath of fresh air. The look on the shadow benches faces and their incoherent shouty crackers responses demonstrated that there was little behind their eyes in the way of brane.

Although on the night it turned out largely as we predicted. Johnson won a narrow victory largely on his likeability, whereas Corbyn came across as the slightly more assured debater.

But, as you rightly point out, Boris is much stronger than Corbyn at the despatch box. It is an environment that suits him, whereas studio debates suit Corbyn better. Ironically they are even more suited to the shouty emotives like Swinson and Sturgeon, who generally come across badly in the House...

Ahem, if you mean the number of cars brought in by EU drivers because they own them, but not subject to the Tax and MOT conditions in this country until they require one it's still moot. There are any numbers of Dutch German, Austrian Polish that would have been subject to TI but never bothered to comply. Moreover you do not require a British licence to drive on British roads, merely A licence to drive, not that it's followed by any exactitude. The road planning details are principally conducted by ER methods- if you ain't there- you ain't there. Insurance companies have fairly accurate details of who registers what for insurance. There's a bloke near me got three cars under tarps, none of which will never be rebuilt and he has another one for his missus, One for his son and daughter and his own, that makes seven. So I watched about 10 minutes of the 'debate' last night before switching over due to acute boredom. I wonder how much of the format was due to ITV and how much down to the parties not wanting their respective leaders exposed to incisive questioning?

Were it up to me:

1. Leader 1 questions Leader 2 for 20 minutes.
2. Leader 2 questions leader 1 for 20 minutes.
3. Questions from audience - alternate Labour and Tory supporters throw questions at leaders for 20 minutes

Light system on lecterns:

• Green light - start answer
• Yellow light after 2 minutes - one minute to go.
• Red light - time up and microphone off.

Shorter times for phase 3 - rapid fire answers.
