Geeks to tackle cyber crime
Spooks to keep an eye on things
Thugs (special forces) to go in and do the business.

A rather concise post.

Sorry - premature ejaculation.

Hasn't Lady Nugee the anti-Trident Shadow Defence Secretary just re-hired Damian McBride ("Brown's attack dog") as her spin doctor to work on her Defence review? That makes two comeback queens. RUSI the old think tank "develops knowledge of war and shares theoretical approaches to modern military thinking". Fascinating. But it claims to have a lot of influence in policy.

Have relations between Emily Thornberry and the armed forces already soured?

Back in December 2014, Thornberry declared in her register of interests a donation of £14,500 from Leigh Day & Co. Labour later came under fire when it was revealed that this was the same law firm who had pursued false claims that British soldiers in Iraq were involved in torture and murder. The law firm was criticised after an inquiry found the allegations to be ‘based on deliberate and calculated lies’ and ‘wholly and entirely without merit’. Spectator
Just saying.

And presumable a fourth category- Nukes- to deal with the ravening hoards when they sweep aside Joe 90, James Bond and the three dozen highly trained blokes standing in their way.

I'm sure there would have been some ARRSERs in attendance...

Privatised.

Privatised.
Privatised ----- under Labour (Said in much the same way as A tiger -- In Africa)

I cant believe that, labour would never but something in the hands of private ownership, next you will be telling me they also went to public schools, come from affluent families, closed pits, stopped milk and failed to close tax loop holes.

All three are decamping the public sector at a rate of knots from what I understand.

Best of luck, Major General Thornberry.

Her speech can be viewed here.

Yeah, she has shed loads of credibility for a socialist.
Snobbery indeed.
"Thornberry resigned her Shadow Cabinet position on 20 November 2014, shortly after the polls closed in the Rochester and Strood by-election.[46] Earlier in the day, she had received much criticism after tweeting a photograph of a house in the constituency adorned with several flags of St George and the owner's white van parked outside on the driveway, under the caption "Image from Rochester" (despite the house being in Strood), provoking accusations of snobbery.[47]"

I would just like to point out that was not my work. I was next to the RUSI camera bloke.

...and I'm not sure why I was covering it as had nothing to do with Boris - However today I did a piece with Laura K, a live for BBC Wales and I'm about to do a live for BBC London... about the Ref... roll on the 23rd June.

The BBC R4 news have been reporting that she said that Labour is not committed to spending 2% GDP on Defence but will decide what is necessary based on an assessment of need.

Its probably the first time I've heard heard of her saying something that I agree with. Whilst accepting that we must cut our clothes according to our cloth I do think we should design our armed forces and defence spending on what we perceive as necessary to meet the potential threats.

I differ from Ms Thornbury in what the potential threat is and in what is needed to meet it.
