Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does anyone know the origins of Galanthea? It's a jaunty little ditty and was often played on parades by the Band of the Devon and Dorsets but I can't find anything about it on the web.
  2. Try looking up Galathea or Galatea. WS Gilbert (half of Gilbert and Sullivan) wrote a musical Pygmalion and Galatea and this might be the source of the tune you are after.
