Will the officers get a cloth version of the cap badge? Smaller, like a baby falcon?
Look! They really thought this out ….

“The Ranger Regiment’s cap badge will take its inspiration from the Peregrine Falcon and everyone will wear a metal badge, irrespective of rank.”

When you really, really wish you had joined the RAF Regt.

So,

12 ABCT
- 1 x Armd Regt
- 1 x Armd Cav Regt (+1 Res)
- 2 x Mech Inf Bn (+ 2 Res Inf Bn)

20 ABCT
- 1 x Armd Regt
- 1 x Armd Cav Regt
- 3 x Mech Inf Bn (+ 3 Res Inf Bn)

this is madness

Why stop there? The whole thing is utter bollox. There’s little logic to the structures and as for the equipment tables for said structures, largely fantasy.

Our successor regiment (One of those new regional regiments that, in our case, took in all the regiments in the NW, Lancashire and Cumbria, has gone from 3 Btns, plus a reserve Btn in 2006, down to 1 Btn plus a reserve Btn due to this. The Original 3rd Battalion was disbanded in 2007, leaving two regular Battalions. Now, the 2nd Battalion has become 3rd Ranger Battalion, currently in Pirbright.

Don't worry. They will all be part of the Rifles soon.
