Fuel Pump

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Ford Focus, T reg. The fuel pump is going. Car has done less that 75k, serviced every year by dealership, Ford say this is not an ongoing problem although a quick internet search would say that it was.

I don't want to get ripped off by the Ford dealership who are very expensive for a service but I am slightly worried about tipping up at the local garage (they are supposed to be good according to the neighbours) and being taken for a very expensive ride.

How much should I expect to pay to have the fuel pump replaced roughly? Is this something can be done at home or does it depend where the fuel pump is and if a pit is needed?

  2. It depends on the location of the pump. Obviously the more manhours required to fix it the more the cost will be. I'd ring a few garages and get some quotes if I were you. Play them off each other if required.
