President Le Pen? - Guido Fawkes

It could well be that yet another 'unthinkable!' result will happen after Brexit, Trump , probably Austria and Italy this year. The big one for the future of the EU is of course la belle France. Front National has been doing increasingly well in elections and that was before the bulk of the attacks in France this year, Brexit and now Trump.

I not an expert on France but my French friends in London state categorically that they know their own Countrymen and women better than I; there is no way, they say, that France would vote in Le Pen. When I ask just how long they have lived in the UK, if they go back often or would they move back to live, the answers are the same; been living 15 - 20 years in Britain, go back to France for family visit's a couple of times a year, but would never move back as they cannot stand the place. A bit like my Yank friends in London then when asking them about Trump a few months / weeks ago.

The establishment says it is impossible - like Brexit and Trump, but I think she could well do it and then everything in Europe changes utterly.

As Guido says Marie Le Pen is on the Andrew Marr show this Sunday so have a gander and lets see what you think.

  2. Non-starter. Even if she gets into the run off, like her dad did, everyone who disagrees with her on both sides of the political spectrum will vote for the other bloke.

Now the election after that might be different and she might get in then.
  3. Front National, ffs!

My money is on the FN getting in. It's not looking pretty for France and if they're going to find their position in this globalised world they'll need some brave politicians. I think only the FN are used to being seen as beyond the pale and prepared to offer a solution, no matter how painful it'll be.

Does it matter? The French political elite are so far up each other that nothing would change exceept the signs on the doors. Le Pen is no "political outsider"

  5. If Monsiour Hollande isn't doing some serious flapping at the moment, he should be.

The French have form for decapitating complacent leaders... :D

  6. Really? I think Le Pen would change France considerably and definitely take the country in a different direction to the current one. People often don't realise that France has a strong religious streak (away from the secular state) and a historical regard for Russia.

The Russian messaging into France has been quite effective and previously staunch French Commies have softened towards Le Pen because of her relationship with Russia.

I think it's all going to end in mass graves over there and only the FN have been preparing for that day.

But that's going to do nothing for their economy and no one has the will or ability to tackle the system.

  8. Are you suggesting that I have spelled it incorrectly? I thought that putting an e on the end was an essential part of the construction of French words, or is that Spanish?

Front is masculine, hence no adjectival 'e'. Rien de plus.
