French Poudre E

Mister toasted cheese sandwich and I were wondering if any of the HBSA bods had heard of Poudre E, since it is specified for a cartridge we are currently researching.

we know, of course, that Poudre B was the 1st military smokeless powder.

We are rather hoping that Poudre E is a particular grade of black...

any ideas?

No, I'll ask the franophiles at the club this month, missed last months, out stalking!
Thanks a lot mate!
We have a result -- it is Poudre Exercise, otherwise known as blank powder. And, in the era that we are concerned with (1884), this can only mean a fast grade of black.
