Free PC Games

I recently looked back at my last year or so of gaming and realised that about 80% of all videogames played were of the flash/free download variety. This speaks volumes when you consider that I own a Wii, a PS3, a PC and a DS, including several Triple-A titles on each format. It's easy to see why - many free downloadable games are truly top quality. Fantasticcontraption is the one that still takes up most of my time, but there are many others worthy of note.

Anyway, I thought I'd start this thread so that ARRSEers could list some the other free downloadable games which they think are worthy of a wider audience. I've listed a few to start us off (some new, some not so new)

Spin The Black Circle - turn a large wheel left or right to guide a little ball to its goal. Good while it lasts, but bloody hell it's hard.

Fantastic Contraption - A physics-based engineering game in which an object must be moved to a goal area using wheels and rods. Life threateningly addictive.

Splitter - Similar in objective to Fantastic Contraption, although this time the aim is to slash objects apart with a knife instead of building things. Short but good.

Crayon Physics Deluxe - A charming little game which sees your crude crayon drawings instantly come to life and take on physical properties in order to propel a ball into a goal. (Bit of a theme developing here, but trust me, it's different enough to warrant a look.

Closure - A rather creepy black and white puzzler/platformer, which sees you transporting orbs of light around a pitch black level to try and find doors to open. If you can't see the door/floor, it doesn't exist.

The Way Of The Ninja - Getting on a bit now, but still good fun. Basically a little ninja runs and jumps around a huge playing field filled with obstacles such as mines, attack droids and heat-seeking misssiles. After a particularly heated session on this I actually drew blood by biting my knuckle in a barely-suppressed raged. In fact don't play this. It'll only piss you off.

Line Rider - A simple game in which you draw a line on a screen, then press play to watch a little man on a sled go down your line. Although this is getting on a bit as well now, some of the videos on Youtube of this game are amazing, as well as being a fantastic insight into those people with even less of a life than us.

Please remember to add a link to the games when posting.
Does anyone have the name or the link to that game where you have to create a virus/bacteria in order to wipe out the human race? It was featured on ARRSE a while back, but I'm buggered if I can find it.

Pandemic 2 is great!

I cant ever seem to infect Madagascar though. They've only got a port, and always close it too quickly :(

Plenty of good ones here:

I can definitely recommend 'motherload' which involves building a spaceship/mining machine and digging for treasure.

War Hero
Spin the black circle's brilliant!

Remember the turn based strategy Steel Panthers series of games? Well there are a few fan improved versions available out there for full free downloads. I currently have SP MBT, SP WWII (both improved by a company called SP Camo) and SP World at War (by Matrix Games):

SP MBT (I'm currently playing a late 80's 'What If' between FRG and DDR - bastard ATGW's are a pain in the arse for my early Leo2's and their thin hull side armour!):

Word of warning these games are addictive and will steal weeks off your life!

EDIT: deleted due to mong like duplication...
Combat Arms is a good game if and its a big If you can get on it. I'm fed up with opening new accounts every time it patches and all my log on info disappears. Nexon are absolutely no help, this is especially galling after spending real cash to upgrade my guys weapons.

Enjoy if you can get on.

Transport Tycoon Deluxe is now open source, and some very clever fan bods have turned a bloody good economy sim into a fricking awesome one. The game it is now is the game Microprose probably wished it was 15 years ago.
