Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. New suggestions that the Foxhound is a rather expensive breakdown waiting to happen.

Army armoured vehicles 'keep breaking down'

MoD Defends Foxhounds After Reports Of Breakdowns In Iraq Heat

Also noticed this tacked onto the end...

"In April 2009, the MoD bought 75 Springer All Terrain Vehicles at a cost of more than £7m. They are now being sold for less than £10,000 each.

The MoD is also selling off its fleet of 85 Warthog armoured vehicles first purchased in 2010 for £150m."

No wonder there is no money left!

  2. Second hand ‘urgent operational requirement’ equipment that has been thrashed in a war zone is now worth less than its new price

Should the governments response to soldiers dieing in snatch landrovers stayed as ‘suitable vehicles for different types of operations that we won’t need in the long term is a waste of money’ or ‘lives are important and we’d better spend shit loads of cash now’
