It's an historic dollar factory but a bloody awful race these days.
Worth millions to The Principality...from parties full of ********* to multi million yacht signings.
Good for classic race & classic car events though.

Yup.
I'm getting my rain dance head feathers & sporran looked out.
That's all I need.
I'll shave me armpits too.
I'll be prancing around the back garden nekkid as the day etc.
Sort of a Celtic Morris Dance style.

It rang a very distant bell.
Might be the early 80's fire in the hotel above's kitchen that triggered the sprinklers...delaying kick off.
Might be late 70's...long time past.

The start of the race was delayed after a fire in the Loews Hotel kitchens, which necessitated the fire service pumping large quantities of water to put the fires out. Water then seeped through the floors of the hotel and into the tunnel, delaying the race for an hour.

in 84, Lauda got Bernie to ask the fire brigade to spray the inside of the tunnel, due to the rain.
