Forearm Tendonitis

After much aggravation following having to rapidly intercept a heavy object head towards my foot, Physio (who I had little confidence in already) tells me I have this and not much to be done other than avoiding exercise or activity that might put strain on tendon for maybe 6 months.

It is a complete bastard: holding a beer mug OK but something slightly heavier, like a kettle, is really painful. Catches me out all the time

Anybody experienced this? Any tips? Cannot believe that the answer is to do sod all apart from lashing on 'brufen gel
