For those interested in stuff from the GDR

I found this site with all manner of bits and bobs from the former GDR:

http://nva.4mg.com/

There's not only a huge amount of stuff, but also the prices are very reasonable and each item is clearly marked whether it's original or not. Thus avoiding all that annoying eBay malarkey.

Oh, it's in German, but there are a few English translations too.

Someone trying to offload all the rubbish he bought all those years ago, eh? I've got a drawer-full of monoculars here (actually they're very good, as are the binos, camping kit and woollen rugs). I could have done with this, though, not that I remember any of the VoPo women looking like that:

I actually do remember them looking like that, Whisybreath. Well, the uniforms at least.

When I returned to the GDR in January 1990, they didn't have enough of what the West-Germans referred to as "Försteruniformen" (Forrester's uniforms - the new West-German Old Bill uniform introduced in 1980) to kit out all their "new recruits". So the former Vopos were running around in the old ones until about 1994. Happy days!
