For the classical music lovers amongst you...

From the BBC:

Classical music lovers around the world will be able to sit in a "virtual" hall to listen to an online performance by a leading orchestra.

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic will perform what is billed as the first professional music concert in a "virtual online world".

An orchestra spokesman said it was important to explore and embrace new technologies and audiences.

The cyber event will be seen by visitors to Second Life website.

Liverpool Philharmonic chief executive Michael Elliott said: "Orchestras today are committed to reaching out to make their music more accessible to encourage new audiences.

"That means exploring and embracing the opportunities presented by new technology. For us Second Life allows us to tap into a potential global audience.

"It's also a lot of fun and it certainly adds a different dimension to the more traditional visit to a concert hall."

The event is planned for 14 September.

Read the article, followed the link, but no idea what they intend to play, which makes all the difference, as much classical music is cack listened to by pretentious nerds.
But thanks for the heads up.

Edited for bad manners

Gee, thanks for your contribution…

My guess is that anyone who’s interested will look up the programme (oh, that took all of 3 seconds on Google!) I'm not on SL, but if I was, whilst I quite like the Ravel and Rachmaninov pieces, I'd probably pass on the Hesketh and McCabe bits were I to 'attend'.

  Sorry, since I hit 52 last week senior moments can last for hours. Rahcmaninov, possibly, Ravel unlikely, and I assume Hesketh and McCabe play for Everton?.
To paraphrase (badly) I'm Bach to the bone.

Taxi!
