Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. For the British Treasury, only today is the war over
    Guardian Online
    At last! :D
  2. "This week we finally honour in full our commitments to the US and Canada for the support they gave us 60 years ago. It was vital support which helped Britain defeat Nazi Germany"

Poor Ed - didn't they teach him at Nottingham High School that the war ended in 1945 and the Loan dates from 1947 ? The loan helped us pay for 100.000 soldiers in Mandate Palestine
  3. Now it's paid off - can we stop doing everything Dubya sez?

  4. Hmmm, I note that we were being charged 2% pa by the US and Canada, whilst the Chancellor will have had to pay about 4.25% pa on the latest gilt issue to fund the repayment!

The original loan sounds as if it was very good value - a 50 year loan at 2% pa? I'll have some of that!

  5. Now that's finally paid, can we reduce the tax on fuel? Maybe spend a few quid on the roads?

    Yer, right...... :x
