The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Illinois governor arrested for trying to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat

"The Illinois governor and his chief of staff were arrested today for trying to sell Barack Obama's vacated US Senate seat in an explosive case that cast a spotlight on endemic corruption in the president-elect's home state.

Prosecutors charged that Rod Blagojevich, the two-term Democratic governor, discussed trading the open Senate seat for a substantial salary for himself at a non-profit foundation or a trade union affiliate, a lucrative corporate directorship for his wife, and even cash up front."

Ah yes another Obama bedfellow...I hear that Obama has already started his pardon list GotoJailovich and Resko are already on it as is half the democrat party in Illinois (they are a just in case), and William Jefferson from Lazyanna to name a few.............Ayers was already taken care of by Bill a few years back.

  4. Remember the observer to an election in South Vietnam?

Lyndon Johnson -"Bud, in your view was the election free and fair?"

Bud - "Mr President, the election in the Republic of Vietnam was as free and fair as an Illinois election". :D

  5. The total cad! Goldman Sachs paid good money for that seat.

  6. The rape of Armerica starts....

  7. There are still the deluded ones in this realm, who advocate a republic!

  8. From Chicago Public Radio yesterday, December 8:

"Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich visited a factory on Chicago's Near North Side on Monday. Workers at Republic Windows and Doors have been engaging in a sit-in at the plant since last week, when they were laid off. The workers say they are owed benefits. The company says it can't provide them, because Bank of America cut off its financing. Blagojevich showed up to announce he's suspending all state business with the bank until it restores Republic's credit."

It doesn't surprise me. After all, it's well known that Mayor Richard Daley Sr. delivered Chicago (and Illinois) to the Democrat John Kennedy in the 1960 elections. The rot goes very deep in Flat-Land. The president-elect (the one with the goofy "president-elect" seal stapled to his plywood podium) should say something to distance himself from Blago's attempt to sell his Senate seat, but he probably won't have the balls. Nobama's a Chicago machine politician too and it's business as usual at the Demon-rats massage parlour. Some "change" huh? Too bad we can't get a conviction before Jan 20, 2009. What's betting that after that date all charges will either be dropped or "forgotten"?

Even gangster Al Capone was liked by certain sections of the Democratic wards in Chicago.

  10. The 'Bama is just trying to top the whole Whitewater affair of the Clinton's; rub their nose in having a bigger scandal and not geting touched, then turn round and make the Marc Rich pardon look like a school yard prank :D

  11. The problem is not in the corrupted governor. Why ever does he right to appoint senators? Lawmakers must be elected - it is the only way in a democratic country. When Rt.Hon.mr.Blair left the Parliament then was the new MP appointed ot elected?

Out of the theme. Recently Russia was named as one of the most corrupted countries in the World. At least it is not too far from the truth. However our American friends show us that we are not alone.

  12. Wasn't it Kennedy senior who said, something on the lines of not buying too many votes as he didn't want to pay for a landslide?

  13. "Obama stated, “We’ve got a governor in Rod Blagojevich who has delivered consistently on behalf of the people of Illinois.” [Aug 2006]

Three days later, the indictment said, Blagojevich told Harris it was unlikely that Obama would name him Secretary of Health and Human Services, or appoint him to be an ambassador, due to the investigation looming over him.

The complaint states that Adviser B and another consultant are believed to have participated in a call during which Blagojevich said they were telling him to “suck it up” for two years, and give this “motherf*cker [the President-elect] his senator. F*ck him. For nothing? F*ck him.”

Next, states the complaint, Blagojevich says he would appoint another candidate, Senate Candidate 4, “before I just give f*cking [Senate Candidate 1] a f*cking Senate seat and I don’t get anything.”'

At least one can say that the seat is barely used. The last occupant (Nobama) sat in it for only 147 days from his election. I don't think the people of Illinois got much representation during that time. Hopefully the lucky bidder to succeed Nobama can put up a better Senate attendance record than that. Gibbon in his "Decline And Fall of the Roman Empire" described wealthy businessmen outbidding one another for the laurel crown of power. Nothing has much changed it seems.

So the phrase "on the blag" is actually an American abbreviation for acting like Blagojevich?
