Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. So our Glorious Elected (Ahem) Leader has invited China to invest 100 billion here.

So now that most of the US seems to be owned by Saudi and Asia, with credit notes from china mopping up the rest, we seem to be following the politicians gravy train.
As Mao said "Politics is war without bloodshed, war is politics with bloodshed"
What are the long term political repercussions of allowing other sovereign nations buying up companies lock stock and barrel as nations with national interests rather than individuals with commercial interests at heart.
How is it that decisions and policies that affect the nation as a whole seem to appear as fait accompli without any sort of debate as to the pro's and con's, or am I being a bit thick, or indeed have I been asleep? Should I just go back to sleep ?
  2. Go back to sleep, Sir, there really isn't anything to worry about. Northern Rock will be just fine with the soon-to-be Lord Branson at the helm of this new-Chinese owned bank...

  3. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  4. For the first time, I'm really starting to understand how my American friends feel about having George bush represent them. Having the one-eyed pension thief pretending to be a representative of this country is really turing my stomach.
  5. Well I for one would certainly subcontract the UK's law enforcement, border controls and prison service to the Chinese - might need a news blackout for a few months while they straighten things out as we don't want to upset the BBC & Guardian.
  6. The slight risk of being beaten to death by the police for undercutting the Mayor's son's business partners might be worth it!

Personally, I don't see it as being any different from selling the family silver to multinational companies. If their actions are dictated by concerns other than the good of the nation, does it really make that much practical difference what their motivations are? Our British companies and institutions have been owned overseas for decades, now - since pretty shortly after they were privatised in the case of the utility companies. Their policies have long since diverged from the long-term good of the nation.
  7. I want to say something bad about the twat of the PM we have but i dare not risk getting taken away by some nasty misters.
  8. the armed forces hating and the british and english hating Labour party has destroyed the england we used to know and love ,the traitor Brown will not be happy until he sees this country islamic. The Labour has betrayed the british people ,giving away millions of British jobs and houses to foreigners and the selling out of British christian culture to islam without the consent of the indigenous population,DONT VOTE LABOUR!
  9. Hi samgreen47,what with the place being flogged off to foreigners and all, well,it has been happening here too,in a big way.I think the main problem is that the average pom would not work in an iron lung!A bit of
"No workie-no eatie "would go a long way towards easing the problem.
    Cheers :D
  10. Just look at the way utility bills are rocketing to provide profits for foreign owned businesses. Try buying a power or water company in France and you will get a resounding feck off. Why bother invading anywhere when you can just buy it all up and turn everyone into wage slaves :x
  11. Absolutely, and who sold our utility companies off in the first place? That would be Thatcher and Major.
  12. Who were followed slavishly by Neue Arbeit who are about as socialist as the NSDAP
