Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Much cursing and swearing no doubt.

But would Pvt Numbnuts go running to his union rep and have Operation Plebgate launched to soothe his battered ego?

  2. Pte, surely?

  3. For want of a better place to put this (it would apply to several threads) this seems to fit......
    Classic......

  7. It has become something of a tradition in the Met that the Commissioner does not leave at a time of his own choosing.

  9. One could argue that he wasn't meant to. It takes a brilliant mind to ensure that there would be the right outcome in these circumstances. The establishment has teeth and they also know how to manipulate. Question is how long will he find it prudent to remain so that he can pick up his gold plated pension and a seat in the Lords

  10. Met Police pays £100k to hounded hero Lord Bramall | Daily Mail Online

Lord Bramall is set to receive £100,000 in compensation from Scotland Yard over its bungled VIP paedophile inquiry.

The 93-year-old ex-military chief, whose home was raided at dawn by 22 officers after he was falsely accused of child sex abuse, has been offered a ‘substantial’ sum.

Fully deserved after their disgraceful conduct but It would be a nice touch if he refuses it or give it to appropriate service and or childcare charities after paying his lawyer's fees.

  12. "Although he was reluctant to sue, Lord Bramall was keen to ensure that the Met learns lessons. He is expected to donate the money to a charity."

I'll be honest, this is a no-win situation.
Yes, the Met gets their wrists slapped, and cough up. But what are they coughing up - YOUR MONEY!
In cases like this, the chaps who made the bad decisions should have to cough from their own pockets. Pension fund - thanks, we'll dip into that as well, to pay the bill.

Absolutely. No doubt it goes on whatever passes for an OJAR for senior Plod but as you say it's the taxpayer that does the paying.

When people get compensation from the NHS I think there should be a cap of say 10 times what they paid - maybe 20 or 30 times - but definitely a cap. If they do t like it they can always use a different service.
