"Flat blade" wipers - any good or just a gimmick?

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just bimbled along to Halfords to get some new wipers for the car and the van, and was confronted by the choice of "normal" and "flat blade" wipers. The blurb claims that "flat blade" types are more efficient/ longer lasting/ quieter/ etc. I was rather put off by the claim that they are also "stylish" which, in car terms, normally refers to something in the chav accessory section.....

Are these any good - better than conventional blades?
  2. yes, a lot better. Don't buy from Halfords though. Go on ebay and you'll get same for 1/4 of the price.
  3. Loads better than normal wipers, got them on the car and on the works van. Ebay the way forward as 5A said.
  4. Tesco do them in bigger stores, between £5 & £7 dependent on size and they're not bad quality
  5. they work heaps better. lot of new cars use
