Fit birds in uniform

Ref the afore-mentioned “camp bed” circumstance: if one was in a situation where such a contrivance was necessary, obviously in the absence of a suitably-starred edifice, surely then, one’s Gentleman’s Gentleman, or, shudder, Batman, would have already attended to the task
… No?

I have read that recruits, usually from the cities, would put on weight during recruit training. Exercise and decent grub...
In "Soldier From The Wars Returning" Charles Carrington described training recruits in Northumberland in 1918 where on average they gained an inch in height and a stone in weight in six months.

As for the Bantams, it worked as a concept when the units were manned by miners, etc., but generally short men were unable to do the heavy lifting and lacked the stamina of normal sized men.

Also when mixed into shakes in the correct ratio it is undetectable by natural olfactory systems.

Learnt that one as a three star Operator. (McDonald's.)

I see you’ve allowed your valet to set up some sort of ad hoc sleeping arrangement in one of the bathrooms of your hotel suite, rather than have him sleep on the floor at the foot of your bed. How very progressive!

They'd be too busy relacing their boots to notice.

Gurkhas y'know.
