FINGAL and HERRICK

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. just reviewing a current document and its referring to both FINGAL and HERRICK.

    I assumed FINGAL had been absorbed into HERRICK, is this not the case?

  2. What's the difference then?

  3. Does anybody know the answer?

  4. Yeah the blokes depoloyed on them do its like one of those need to know scenarios, like James Bond

  5. Not certain, but wouldn't one be the support to ISAF & the other be NATO support?

    But what would I know? :(

    FINGAL = ISAF

    HERRICK = NATO

    B_D - you know lots.

  7. Er....ISAF/NATO is the same thing. ISAF is the NATO sponsored mission in Afghanistan. Have a look here:

    My bad.

    I would assume that HERRICK is operations in Helmand/Kandahar and FINGAL is Kabul.

  9. FINGAL was the original PRT mission which ran concurrently with JACANA the search and destroy mission. All now subsumed into the overarching Op HERRICK.
