You may wish to install Vuescan as the scanner software rather than Epson's. It's the industry standard. The Dust & Scratches filter is also very good IMHO. You can try it for free.

Hi I did down load this, but it doesn't seem to have a negative or transparency option (possibly a LIMFAC on the trial version)
 
Here's a random selection of images with my 1953 35 mm Leidolf Wetzler 'Lordomat' with a Tessar-style 50 mm f2.8 lens last August - which I developed at home and have now managed to scan with the Epson V600. The Tube shots were taken with my 1937 folding Welta Weltini with a 5.0 cm f2.8 Schneider Lens. Neither camera is metered, so I used a 1965 Weston VI light meter - or guessed.

In spite of trying to be scrupulously clean, the negatives pick up dust and the image correction system on the scanner doesn't seem to be very effective.
