Fewer colleges for student visas

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Following some long overdue and basic checks the number of "colleges" that could sponsor UK Visas for foreign "students" has gone down from 15,000. To 1,500.

That would be 13,500 sources of duff UK visas gone. And guess what?

The BBC is gently wondering if "the sharp fall in numbers will raise questions as to whether the previous official list included bogus institutions"

    Gahhhh!!!! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Well, its well known that 2nd floor 'offices' on Oxford Street with 3 desks, 3 computers, a secretary and a 'teacher' were being allowed to call themselves 'English language schools' for years. All that happened is that the 'students' would sign the attendence register in the morning, then go off to work illegally. But to be fair, a lot of them were South American lasses on the Game. So its not all bad :D !
  3. Must be cats out of the bag night, the time when the undisclosed is disclosed and thinking types like us couldn't agree more. "Language Schools" are wrong in so many ways. Time to shut them all down and confine them to Campuses. Tut tut, Oxford Street as well. Fcuking cheek of them.
  4. The lazy scruffy brutes, smoking and lurking around outside their ghastly academies. The only English they need to trouble themselves with is 'Which way to the Eurostar?'
  5. It's been long overdue. The FE/Language teaching sector has been rife with abuse forever, mainly because there's no law against calling yourself a college and trading as a business. Anybody could do it and there hasn't ever been the will to check up on credentials or vet standards.

The odd thing is that some of the outfits with '3 desks, 3 computers, a secretary and a 'teacher' ' are actually legit one-man-bands and some of the big colleges with flash offices and hundreds of students are cowboys. There's a lot of money to be made in English teaching and if it's possible to get the money without having to deliver the teaching then there are plenty of unscrupulous types waiting to take it.

Err... anybody got the addresses of these South American lasses? Purely because it's my rightful duty to report them for visa abuse, of course...
  6. Theirs one of them in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, see them all outside waiting for it to open, about 10 minutes after it opens you see them all leaving.

I suppose the words 'give me' and 'dole' dont take that long to teach.
