"Today we mark the 31st Anniversary of the Deal Barracks bombing.
This horrific event saw an IRA bomb explode in the rest area of the Staff Band and tragically take the lives of 11 Royal Marines musicians.
This short film was produced for the 30th Anniversary last year and joins Musician George Gissing as he discovers the everlasting relationship we have with the town of Deal, and the special remembrance of this day.
I remember visiting Deal as a RM Cadet just prior to the event happening.
From memory (and it’s faded)it was a proper old barracks with character.
The beach was an arse to run on also.
